Mr John Lenders MP

Since joining the Cabinet in February 2002, John has held a range of portfolios including Industrial Relations, Consumer Affairs, Finance, Major Projects, WorkCover and Education.

As Treasurer, he is responsible for the financial management of Victoria’s $34.9 billion Budget sector, and providing strategic advice to Government on its economic, financial and budgetary policies.

John is also determined to ensure that Victoria retains its well earned reputation as a leader in adopting best practice financial management, and its leadership role in setting the National Reform Agenda and being at the forefront in developing strategies to boost innovation.

As leader of the Government in the Legislative Council, he is responsible for managing the Government’s legislative agenda through a Parliamentary chamber where the four non-Government parties have the majority.
