Dr Peter Newton is a Research Professor and Co-Director of the Sustainable Cities Program within the Institute for Social Research at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne where he leads research on sustainable built environments. His current research involves an ARC Discovery grant on the determinants of household consumption and a federal-state consultancy on hybrid buildings. His most recent books include: Transitions. Pathways Towards Sustainable Urban Development in Australia (Springer 2008) and Technology, Design and Process Innovation in the Built Environment (Taylor & Francis 2009).
