Chairman of the Housing Corporation UK from 2003 to 2008, Sir Peter Dixon has recently retired after overseeing the closure of the Housing Corporation late in 2008 and the creation of two new entities – the Tenants Services Authority (which acts as a new watchdog for social tenants) and the Housing and Communities Agencies (which brings together responsibility for both the land and the money to deliver new housing, community facilities and infrastructure). Prior to this, he had been a voluntary board member of Housing Associations since 1974, most recently Anglia Housing Group and London & Quadrant Housing Trust. Peter Dixon has been Chairman of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since April 2001 and was a Trustee and Council Member of the NHS Confederation as well as Chairing the Audit Committee. He is also a lay member of the Information Tribunal. He was previously the Chairman of Enfield & Haringey Health Authority. In February 2007, Peter was also appointed Chairman of the Office of Public Management (OPM). OPM is an independent public interest company, dedicated to helping improve social results. OPM works across public services with clients who are aiming to achieve good outcomes, especially through partnership working, community engagement, improved management practices and good governance. His business career includes running a variety of industrial companies as well as extensive experience in banking and corporate finance. Peter was Knighted in the New Year’s Honours 2009 for services to the housing sector. Program information: Plenary session |
