Ms Valerie Bares

Director of Sustainability and Environmental Management, ESC Consulting

Ms Valerie Bares

Valerie was an experienced electronic systems engineer before seeing the light and deciding to study environmental management. After 12 months in Scotland to project manage the preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Aberdeen bypass, she came back to Australia and joined Place Design Group’s environmental team in 2008.

Valerie worked on a number of property development projects across Queensland, ranging from small to very large subdivisions, tourism resorts, industrial sites and mines. Some of these projects required highest levels of analysis and reporting for referrals under Commonwealth legislation, as well as responding to State Regulatory provisions for Koalas and Coastal Management.

With a passion for sustainability, she was appointed in 2015 as the EnviroDevelopment National Manager at the UDIA (Qld), responsible for managing all aspects of the sustainability rating tool’s program including project certifications, business development, events, memberships and communications.

Now with a broad range of skills and experiences under her belt, Valerie created ESC Consulting in 2016 with her business partner Rikki Pieters. ESC Consulting is dedicated to environmental, sustainability and community services.
