Major concurrent: Pathways and priorities for Australia’s Indigenous housing

Multiple sessions within the 2019 theme Housing future communities will draw on the lived experience of Indigenous people around Australia and the world to help present a case for impactful change required into the future and now. Appropriate and affordable housing is a vital foundation for wellbeing that supports education and employment pathways, yet many Indigenous Australians still face overwhelming housing challenges.

With housing identified as a priority for a renewed Closing the Gap strategy, this panel will unpack the common challenges across Australian states and territories and explore the priorities and pathways ahead. Speakers will come from a wide range of states and territories.

The NHC 2019 program pays special interest to the unique challenges and priorities of Indigenous Australians as we take the conference to the Northern Territory for the first time.
