Annemaree Callander is the CEO of Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) which has been providing “New Futures for Young People” in Brisbane since 1977.  Brisbane Youth Service supports young people aged 12-25 and their accompanying children to find and maintain housing, address physical and mental health issues, establish successful relationships and support networks, and re-enter education and employment.

Annemaree has a Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) and 32 years’ experience in human service delivery in both the government and NGO sectors. She has worked in a variety of direct service delivery, policy and program roles in areas including youth homelessness, youth health, and child protection. Prior to returning to BYS in January 2011, Annemaree worked as a Director within the Office of Climate Change and the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care.

Her non-government experience includes five years working at BYS (1988-1993) where she established the Youth Health Service.  Annemaree has also worked for both the Youth Sector Training Council and the National Youth Housing Coalition.

Annemaree is Secretary of the Qld Network of Drug and Alcohol Agencies and a member of the Under 1 Roof Board, a consortium of homelessness, housing and community agencies focussed on ending homelessness in Brisbane. She is a strong advocate for young people and is passionate about evidence informed policy and practice.
