 Brenton Philp

Brenton joined the Department of Social Services in October 2018. As Group Manager Housing and Homelessness Group, he is responsible for Commonwealth housing and homelessness policy and programs, including the National Rental Affordability Scheme and the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement with the states and territories.

Prior to DSS, Brenton held senior executive roles in energy policy and competition and consumer regulation.  His experience includes gas market development and energy market governance through the COAG Energy Council.  At the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission he held a number of roles responsible for competition and consumer protection market inquiries and enforcement.

Brenton has a double degree in arts and law, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
