As National Executive Director of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), Connie represents over 2,500 companies in advocating for cohesive infrastructure development, better linked population growth and industry job creation, and the development of vibrant communities that improve the liveability and affordability for all Australians.
Connie is known as a change agent and reformer. Her property and urban development experience spans 25 years. Having carved her teeth working for a decade with Global Real Estate firm, Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) across each group, spread across four offices, in analyst and market research roles. After completed her initial degree with a major in international real estate investment, whilst working at JLL, Connie went on to hold executive positions in industry analysis, client management, marketing, communications and operations in South Africa, London, Hong Kong and Singapore and Sydney for global public relations, digital marketing, industry research and publications firms where her industry focus was global trade and investments, resources, mining, energy, finance and agile business operations.
Before returning to Sydney, Connie joined the Federal Department of Finance senior advisory team to support the major reforms of the Howard era which included outsourcing the management of Australia’s largest property portfolio to the private sector.
Connie returned to Sydney to lead the Australian British Chamber of Commerce through major reform before joining leading law firm BDW (now Ashurst), where she managed 14 industry portfolios including global investments, property, construction and infrastructure development whilst the firm also completed a major restructure in preparation for its global merger with Ashurst.
Connie has held five Council and board appointments including the Australian British Chamber of Commerce NSW and National boards, Scottish Business Network of Australia, European Australian Business Council and the UTS Graduate Business School MBA Network.
In her former spare time, Connie has also lectured in five business subjects at the University of Technology Sydney, set up four industry led mentoring programmes for aspiring young leaders and was the founding partner of the sustainability network.
She now devotes her spare time to being a sports mum and all the taxiing around that such entails so she fully understands the pressures of navigating through Capital City congested roads, whilst entertaining children and remaining calm when the fiftieth “are we there yet” is uttered.
