 John Palmer

John has over 40 years’ experience in the commercial and non-profit sectors in roles that have built capacity, broken new ground, developed people and always sought to operate in a cultural framework that is respectful and acknowledges achievements.

His undergraduate and post graduate qualifications cover finance, governance and management and he is currently a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has held a variety of Board positions in the non-profit sector.

His non-profit community experience includes primary health, tertiary health and more recently community services as Manager Place Based Services at MercyCare in Western Australia. His portfolio includes Aboriginal short stay accommodation facilities in Derby and Broome, as well as community hub and community development projects in two of the state’s fastest growing Local Government Areas, the City of Wanneroo and the City of Swan.

John has a keen interest in developing sustainable funding solutions for service delivery through collaboration such as corporate partnerships, building relationship with community, and fostering two-way communications with external stakeholders.

He believes that communities should lead their own destiny and be supported in the process of gaining confidence and the skill to progress to total self-determination.
