 Michael Buchan

Michael Buchan holds the position of Chief Executive, SA Housing Authority. Michael has extensive experience in the evaluation, financing and delivery of private and public-sector infrastructure, social and property projects. Michael has been responsible for numerous flagship projects and holding executive roles in the State Government for more than 10 years, including as the Chief Operating Officer responsible for major and special projects for the Land Management Corporation and Renewal SA. In his roles he has had responsibility for the delivery of key residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, utilising a broad range of delivery and partnership models. Michael is also a Management Committee member on several development partnerships with the private sector.
A fellow of CPA Australia, with dual commercial tertiary qualifications, Michael has most recently been responsible for the leadership of the South Australian Housing Trusts asset and non-government partnership programs. During this time he has been responsible for the cultural integration of staff transferred through previous machinery of government changes, developments and maturity of the social housing asset strategies and the transfer, management and control of the stock transfers to the community housing sector.

Michael’s experience in arranging and leading change for both the private and public sector, provides a unique capacity and perspective to drive the government’s broad housing reform agenda.
