 Natalia  Gemmell

As Manager, Housing Policy at the Department of Communities, Natalia is responsible for leading whole-of-system housing strategies and strategic policy initiatives to achieve social and affordable housing outcomes.  Natalia has a strong interest in stakeholder engagement and co-design. Drawing on her consultancy experience in Australia and the United Kingdom, her focus is on developing partnerships with industry and the community-sector to creating innovative, market-based responses to complex and contentious policy issues. A key achievement is the award-winning Assisted Rental Pathways Pilot, a transitional housing response for social housing tenants and applicants, which combines discounted rental subsidies with wrap around support services to help people become self-sustaining in the private rental market. She spearheaded the development of Ageing with Choice: Future directions in seniors housing, 2019-2024, endorsed by Cabinet in June 2019, and is driving the implementation of the Affordable Housing Action Plan 2017-2018 to 2019-20. Natalia is currently leading the development of the next 10-year housing strategy for Western Australia.
