Sophie is an experienced urban planner and passionate advocate for affordable housing. She is currently a Principal Strategic Planner at the City of Darebin in Melbourne, where she is leading novel approaches to Council-led affordable housing delivery.
Sophie believes in the power of planning to create more equitable and just cities, and the need for planning and urban policy to focus on improving wellbeing for marginalised communities. Having long held a passion for housing, she has undertaken research on cohousing, tenants’ rights and marginal renting. She has worked across academia, the not-for-profit and government sectors both in Australia and in Cambodia.
Sophie holds a Bachelor or Urban and Regional Planning with Honours, and an Advanced Diploma of Group Facilitation. She is a current participant of the Committee for Melbourne’s Future Focus Group.
